What We Make

Why We Make It

TriClops Films is an Atlanta-based, black-owned animation production company looking to make its mark on this magical medium. Our work embraces an unpretentious approach that never abandons the human hand within the creative process.

We imbue the same loving, attention-grabbing energy found in our original award-winning work into music videos, social media content, and more. With years of varied production experience under our belts, we champion the creativity and resourcefulness that stems from limitations, which we find leads to distinct and inspired choices.

Our goal is to establish Atlanta as a serious player in the stop motion game by embracing its unique artistic landscape and culture. We aim to cultivate an environment that celebrates the individual voices of diverse filmmakers and creatives, all with the single-minded mission of creating daring projects that challenge pre-conceived notions of what animation can achieve.

Mikael Trench (Founder)

Since the age of 12, Mikael Trench has been creating films using stop motion animation. Heavily inspired by the works of Ray Harryhausen, Hayao Miyazaki, Jim Henson, Adam Elliott, and many others, Trench would go on to become an award-winning stop motion filmmaker, with his films being shown in worldwide film festivals starting at age 16.

He graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2020 with a BFA in Animation where he directed the acclaimed short film, To Love a Ladybug, and created his trademark, the TriClops. Afterwards he moved to Los Angeles where he contributed to commercial stop motion projects for brands such as Jurassic World, Hot Wheels, American Girl and more.

In 2023, he moved back to his hometown of Atlanta with the goal of establishing his brand and the stop motion medium as a mainstay of the city’s ever-growing entertainment landscape and unique artistic culture. He currently resides with his partner and two cats. When not working, he enjoys writing, binging kaiju movies, cooking, and hiking.
